The Bible tells us the words of Jesus in John 15:12-13, “This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you. Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” Over 2000 years ago, Jesus did that very thing for you and me as He gave His life on the cross and died so that we can have the freedom from the penalty of sin. He rose from the grave three days later to free us from the curse of death.
The next time you see a soldier serving both present and past, extend a hand and a word of thanks for what they have done for our country. The next time you bow your head to pray, extend to our God heartfelt thanks for sending His Son to die in your place. You see, freedom is never free, as someone has to pay for it to exist. I think every day should be “a day to remember”, don’t you?
