Here we are again at the beginning of a New Year. It is amazing how time flies! Now is a good time to look back at the past year and be thankful for all the ways that God has blessed us. The old hymn, “Count Your Blessings” reminds us to “Count your many blessings – name them one by one, And it will surprise you what the Lord hath done”. God has indeed promised to those that would place their faith in Him that He would “supply all our need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus”- Philippians 4:19. What a generous God we have!
New beginnings are also a time of renewed hope. Maybe it is time for a fresh start. If your personal time alone with God in prayer or reading His Word has been less than it should be, now would be a great time to begin to do better. Ask God to help you and tell a friend what you would like to do, so they can check and see how you are doing and encourage you along the way. The more you know God through a closer relationship, the more you will respect, or as the Bible says, “fear” Him. Psalm 111:10 tells us “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever.” Have a great year as you begin or continue your exciting journey of wisdom, it is one that you will never regret!
