Harvest time is finally here. After all of the investment of tilling soil, planting seeds, pulling weeds, watering, and waiting, we get to enjoy the “fruits” of our labors. The word “harvest” is scattered throughout the pages of the Bible and is interestingly found in both the first and last books of God’s Word. God knew most people understood the importance of harvest and He used it to teach us to better understand His love and His plan for our lives. In Genesis 8:22, we read these encouraging words: “While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.” What a great promise to us from the Creator of all things! This verse reminds us that He is so faithful to continue to provide a climate and environment to meet the needs of our food supply until the end of time. God is such a gracious Giver to supply our needs day in and day out. The next time you sit down for a meal, please pause and give thanks to our Heavenly Father who after making a promise to us several thousands of years ago, is still true to His Word!
