The Lion and the Lamb by Pastor Tom

We have enthusiastically turned the page from the frigid days of February and find the temperamental month of March staring us in the face. Is winter really over? As I curiously checked the long-range forecast, I wouldn’t trade in the “long-johns” for the shorts and tank-tops quite yet.  As history has somewhat accurately portrayed, March “goes in like a lion and out like a lamb”, or maybe not!

Our Savior is described with the names of both the Lion and the Lamb in the book of Revelation. Actually, Christ’s names of “Lion” and “Lamb” are used together in Chapter Five.

Vs. 4-5 – And I wept much, because no man was found worthy to open and to read the book, neither to look thereon.  And one of the elders saith unto me, Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Juda, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof.

Christ, the conquering Lion, is the only One who is found worthy to open the book.

Vs. 11-13 – And I beheld, and I heard the voice of many angels round about the throne and the beasts and the elders: and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands; Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing.  And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever.

Christ, the slain Lamb of sinless perfection, triumphantly conquered death and is worthy to receive honor, glory, and power forever! What a perfect combination of Lion and Lamb.

In light of all the turbulence in the Middle East and even waves of political uncertainty in our own nation, we need not live in fear, but live by faith that comes with a better understanding of what lies ahead from words breathed by our great Creator and Sovereign God.

Long-range weather forecasts are educated guesses and can sometimes be frustratingly inaccurate. Long-range prophecies from God’s Word are exact truths that we can rest sure on. So will March be warm and mild by month’s end? Talk to me in April and I will let you know with great certainty!
