“New Year, New Life” by Pastor Tom

Just a few short months ago, our church began a new children’s ministry called, “Kids Club”. We meet twice a month and the kid’s hear Bible stories, play games, enjoy snacks, and work on a craft to take home with them. One of the other things that we do is memorize verses of the Bible. Psalm 119 tells us the many benefits of knowing and living God’s wonderful words. Verse 33 says, “Teach me, O Lord, the way of thy statutes; and I shall keep it unto the end.” The earlier that we can learn and obey God’s Word, the better we can know who He is and how we can please Him for the rest of our lives. The first verse that we have taught to our Kid’s Club is John 3:16, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” This is such a special verse in that it tells us how we can be sure that we will one day live in Heaven with God forever. If you replace “the world” and “whosoever” with your own name, it becomes a personal invitation to you! Have you ever made a decision to believe that Jesus Christ, God’s Only Son, died for your sins and rose again the third day to save you from eternal death? If you have not, talk to your parents or your pastor and ask them to help you to know for sure that this amazing promise of God can be yours! There is no better way to start the new year than gaining new life in Christ!
